Before you start
Best identifierShareGate recommends email addresses because they are usually unique and include the domain.
Automatic mapping remainsShareGate can still automatically map users you do not explicitly add to the mapping file.
Teams noteCopy teams can map users, but ShareGate does not support group mapping in Copy teams.
Local boundaryOpselith never connects to ShareGate or Microsoft 365 for this workflow.
Quick answers
Does Opselith create the .sgum file directly?
No. The .sgum format is created with the official ShareGate PowerShell module. Opselith provides the CSV and a helper script.
Can I use this for Teams?
Yes for user mappings. Team destinations and team names are selected in ShareGate itself.
Can I use groups?
General ShareGate user/group mapping supports groups, but Copy teams only supports user mapping.

Open the ShareGate workspace, choose Users & groups or Teams, and create the checked mapping.
