SHAREGATE SHAREPOINT / ONEDRIVE MIGRATION

Prepare user mappings for SharePoint and OneDrive.

Opselith creates an explicit ShareGate user/group mapping. ShareGate still connects to the tenants and performs the SharePoint or OneDrive copy.

HOW TO PREPARE IT

Keep the preparation simple

01Add changed identitiesEnter only the users or groups that need an explicit source-to-destination replacement.
02Create the mappingOpselith creates SourceValue,DestinationValue plus the local SGUM helper.
03Import into ShareGateCreate the SGUM with the official ShareGate PowerShell module and import it under Users and groups mappings.
04Run the copy in ShareGateChoose Copy content only / the relevant SharePoint or OneDrive workflow and review mappings before migration.
WHAT TO KNOW

Before you start

Permissions and metadataShareGate user mapping affects permission resolution and Person or Group metadata during supported copy operations.
Automatic mapping remainsShareGate can automatically associate identities you do not explicitly map.
OneDrive workflowShareGate recommends Copy content only for OneDrive; large-scale OneDrive migrations are better suited to PowerShell.
No site-list CSV claimOpselith does not invent a SharePoint or OneDrive site migration CSV that ShareGate does not document.
COMMON QUESTIONS

Quick answers

Does Opselith migrate the site or OneDrive?

No. Opselith prepares the identity mapping. ShareGate performs the copy.

Do I need to map every user?

No. Use explicit mapping for identities that changed or where you need certainty; ShareGate can automatically associate others.

Does this preserve permissions automatically?

The mapping helps ShareGate resolve users and groups. You still choose and review the ShareGate copy options that control permission handling.

PREPARE THE FILE

Use Opselith for the preparation

Choose Sites & OneDrive in the ShareGate workspace to build the explicit identity mapping.
