More about this script

Why use this template?

Use this free PowerShell script when you need to export enabled ad users. It is generated locally and can be reviewed before you run it yourself in your own PowerShell session.

The template uses ActiveDirectory and requires Directory read access. Output: CSV report. Level: Beginner. Action: Read-only. Risk: Low.

Review before running

The script is generated in your browser. Read it before you run it, and test it outside production first. “Read-only” describes the script itself; anything you add around it can still change data.

Generate the script

  1. Open the template in the PowerShell Builder.
  2. Enter the requested values and review the module, permissions, output and risk.
  3. Generate the script, read it carefully, and test it outside production before use.

The script is generated locally in your browser. Nothing needs to be uploaded to Opselith.

How to use this result

Use this report when you need a CSV of Active Directory accounts that are currently enabled, with common identity and account-review fields.

When this helps

  • Create an enabled-user inventory for an access review, migration or account baseline.
  • Review email, department, title and user principal name values alongside account state.
  • Capture LastLogonDate and PasswordNeverExpires as review signals without changing any user account.

How to read the result

  • Each row is an Active Directory user whose Enabled property is true at the time of the query. Enabled does not prove that the account is actively used or still required.
  • LastLogonDate is based on the replicated lastLogonTimestamp value and is approximate. PasswordNeverExpires reports the account flag; it does not tell you whether that exception is justified.

Things to check

  • Use a dedicated inactive-user report when you need a threshold-based inactivity review instead of treating every enabled account as active.
  • Review service accounts, shared operational accounts and other approved exceptions before making lifecycle decisions from the CSV.

What to do next: Use the inactive-user report when you need to narrow the enabled population by recent logon activity, or compare the export with your ownership or HR source.
